Mike Kelley in Stedelijk musuem

Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum presents a retrospective of work by American artist Mike Kelley, widely considered to be one of the most influential artists of our time. The Mike Kelley exhibition runs from 15 December 2012 to 1 April 2013.


Michael Kelley : the artist

A multimedia phenomenon, Mike Kelley was artistically active from the late 1970s through to his untimely death early in 2012. He worked with a wide array of media during his 35-year career including textile banners, drawings, photographs and found objects, adeptly blending (and commentating on) high and low culture.

First retrospective since 1993

Spread over the entirety of a new space at the renovated Stedelijk, the retrospective comprises over 200 paintings, sculptures, objects, works on paper, videos and multimedia installations. This will be the first full retrospective of Kelley’s work since 1993 and the largest overview of his work ever organised.
